  • I finally booked in for an eye appointment. I hope I don't need new glasses, but I hope I can get my new ones cleaned up or something (though I might need to pay for new glass because I think one lens has a scratch).

    • I was about 4 months overdue for a check-up so went in a few days ago. Thought it was funny that, after checking in with reception, the first thing this well-known company does, when you go in for en eye-test...is test your hearing. Hmm...OK...glad I tested normal for that. Pre-tests done and then you're handed over to someone else for the actual eye-test, then over someone else for the field-of-vision test. Four staff for one 20min appointment. This company hasn't got the best reputation back in the UK, but credit to them here for not going for the hard sell on two-for-one deals they're known for.

e: this was bulk-billed too. They've got to be getting something back, I reckon the un-requested hearing tests might be getting some tax credits

      • Specsavers here (at least I'm assuming you're talking about Specsavers) do hearing tests too which is interesting. I mean hey, I'm not opposed to it, your audible health should be as important as your visual health.

        • Yeah, it was SpecSavers, and credit to them for offering the hearing test, but the taxpayer will be paying for this somehow.

          • I would be very interested to see if they offer me a hearing test. Because I have Auditory Processing Disorder, so my hearing is perfect, but my brain just doesn't connect sound correctly. So that'd be fun.
