Just started getting into The Flaming Lips and saw this for not too bad of a price and couldn't help myself. I love the art for this album! Here's the back: !

This flat square of plastic doesn't sound so bad! It came in the Bloom County comic collection shown in the picture (Billy and the Boingers), and contains two tracks performed by a fictional in-universe band. It's probably not technically vinyl.

Sorry for the crappy image. This is just to satisfy my own curiosity. I'm talking about the 'Stereo-mono' symbol. Does this mean it was recorded mono and converted to stereo? The album was released in 1974.

The deal for today came in the form of some UK 45s that I got for the equivalent of $3 each. I got 5 original UK press Beatles singles with the original Parlophone sleeve and a copy of the Beat's Tears of A Clown/Ranking Full Stop single in a 2-tone sleeve. Overall, I'm happy to get these records and add them to the UK originals pile. Although, if I were able to get some 60s US Rolling Stones picture sleeves, I'd be a very happy camper.

For fans of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Frankie & The Witch Fingers

This record is so good. Been after it for ages but thankfully it keeps getting reissues in lovely colours.

This one is described as "Kamikaze Kandy". It actually looks a lot paler than this but I've jacked up the contrast to counteract the camera flash.

Been wanting to pick this up for a while. Super glad these guys had a repress of this stoner/prog legendary album.

To continue my finds from the flea market from this weekend, I was able to grab some more very good records from the same bin that I found the Captain Beefheart records from my post from yesterday. Again, this person had some eccentric taste, so I was able to pull out some real gems from the batch.

The craziest find from these other records has to be the Fripp and Eno No Pussyfooting record, as I've never see this record anywhere in my time collecting, and wouldn't expect to in the US. The other records that I got were good as well, as I got the first Roxy Music album and David Bowie's Scary Monsters. All and all, these records were also $5 apiece to get, which I was more than happy to get these records for.

Another Smashing Pumpkins record reissue. This one has 5 LPs and costs a whopping $110... probably only for hardcore fans

I feel like this record sells out like hot cakes so thought I'd share it here. It's pretty pricey though

I used to have an AT LP60 turntable and at one point I realized it was too fast when set at 33 1/3 for most of my LPs.

Disclaimers:

I am not an expert and obviously not an audiophile.

I am OK with my LP60 and I suspect there are at least a few people here who feel the same way and may have this same problem (someday).

If you are an audiophile and hate this TT, please go read something else. This post is not for you.

OK, so, I realized some of my records sounded too fast recently and here's how I fixed that:

I downloaded an app to determine my TT's speeds.

I have an android phone, so I chose RPM Speed & Wow from the Google Play store.

There are iPhone apps out there too.

It's free and easy to use and very quickly shows you how fast your TT is roatating.

This is not perfect but again, close enough is close enough for me.

Mine showed 34.9 at first (when set on the 33 1/3 RPM setting).

Remove any record from the TT.

Carefully, look under the TT for the two holes marked "33" and "45".

Find a very small flat-head screwdriver.

Use that to gently poke through the fabric covering inside the 33 hole.

Very, very slowly and gently, seat the screwdriver into the screw inside that hole without turning it.

Turn the screw but only very, very slightly.

Seriously - a TINY turn is probably all you need. Less than a quarter turn for sure.

Turn it clockwise to make the table go faster.

Turn it counter-clockwise to make the table go slower.

Run the app on your phone again to test the new speed.

Repeat the adjustment until you get a result very close to 33.33.

Repeat this whole process for 45 RPM if you want to.

I had to repeat this adjustment about 5 times, making ever smaller changes to the screw's position before I got 33.34 from the app on my phone. Just make very small changes every time and you'll be OK.

The result is noticeable. I am very happy with this change and I hope this helps someone else.

TL;DR: AT LP60 turntables are good but not great turntables - and there's no fixing that, but you can adjust their speed. It's free & easy to do this. It's worth it too.

The Cold Gawd album was new to me and I bought it on a whim after hearing it play at a record store I love. It's an awesome album though and I recommend it to anyone who likes the heavier side of shoegaze.

I also highly recommend Alison Goldfrapp's solo album. Lots of dancey fun and will put you in a good mood.

The other 3 I've just been needing in my collection for a long time.

For me it was probably Thrice's Alchemy Index. I paid around $130 for it and I don't think I can afford to make any more record purchases like that again lol

I just listened to the full album today and instantly wanted to snag a copy...feels bad

Described jokingly as "nintendocore", Horse the band and this album in particular were a huge part of my metalcore loving youth. So I couldn't resist getting this when I saw it had been pressed to vinyl and in cool colours no less.
