Lost Confidence
I've completely lost confidence in this team and Arthur Smith. We lost today to a Vikings team with a 3rd string quarterback who wasn't even on the team until midweek. Even with our offensive struggles, the defense has been standing strong this season, but today they allowed the Vikings to walk up and down the field, blowing coverages and missing tackles. It doesn't look like we can even win the NFC South, which is a dumpster fire of a division, and we're wasting the potential of some players who should be stars lighting up the league. Instead, we look completely incompetent.
I admire Arthur Blank's loyalty to his coach, but I don't believe Arthur Smith is it. He's supposed to be an offensive genius, utilizing a pounding running game, but his play calls are head scratching. When he should be running, he's throwing the ball, and vice versa. It seems like he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, doing what nobody expects, but it's not working. And this is the third year it's not been working. He's the one that stood by Desmond Ridder, and now that looks like a complete bust. He has to be the one held accountable, and it's time for a change.

No game day thread?
Jesus another tough game.
Ridder showing the haters up though.
Bucs have only lost two games to teams who are currently 5 wins with 1 loss, so a solid team.

LET'S GO 2-0!
I hope this new-look defense we saw last week gives Jordan Love trouble all day long, and Ridder got his first game nerves out and has a ballin’ day!

Twitter top hash tag right now is nfl takeover but it's just pages of bitcoi bros, cougars/onlyfans and Arabic spam.
Is something actually happening in the nfl, is there a merger or some rich boy buying the entire league?

I have time to sink into adding more Falcons content. I'm not a mod, but refuse to go back to Reddit for Falcons news, conversation, etc.

It is fair to wonder if former Atlanta Falcons starter Marcus Mariota will be able to keep his backup job in Philly. Through two preseason games, it is clear that Mariota has been outplayed by the quarterback behind him and looks to have all of the same issues that caused the veteran to get benched by Arthur Smith last season.
If we are being objective it is a benching that should have happened far sooner and one that Mariota could have responded to far better. Leaving the team completely after getting benched was a questionable move from Marcus. You have a head coach and a team that has had your back through terrible play and still, you choose to walk.
Mariota leaving Desmond Ridder and Arthur Smith after more than earning a spot on the bench didn't do anything to help his popularity among Atlanta fans. Mariota was quickly cut this off-season with one year left on his deal and was signed by the Eagles.
In both of the first two preseason games the Eagles have started Mariota and Marcus has shown the team exactly why Atlanta was so ready to move on. In this week's game, Mariota went 9/17 for 86 yards and an interception.
For those that watched the game you know that these numbers don't do justice for just how poorly the veteran has played. With wild overthrows to open receivers and making it tough to make catches on even shorter routes, the Eagles have reason to wonder if Mariota isn't their third option at the position.
Holding the ball far too long, failing to hit an open receiver, staring his targets down, and most memorably throwing a truly terrible interception hit the consistencies of Mariota's game this preseason. While one can point out that these are meaningless snaps it is important to remember that this is who Mariota was in Atlanta as well often with games on the line.
If anything the veteran quarterback looks worse than he did in Arthur Smith's offense and could be well on his way to losing his job if there isn't marked improvement in week three.

How do people feel after seeing the first preseason game?
Smith got a pass from me his last couple of seasons because of cap space problems, young guys and minimal talent.
Both sides of the trenches looked vastly improved. If the backup lines look like that I can't wait to see the starters. Team definitely seems to have bought into what Smith is doing, obviously it's preseason, but I haven't seen that kinda play out of previous bench players.

Falcons WATCH: Marcus Mariota's Perspective on Atlanta Exit
Glad to see that our front office is remaining a class act now that "Quarterbacks" is out and outlets are looking for quote fodder. Nothing really new in here, except maybe the disconnect about the discussion about MM getting his leg surgery. I think it all worked out for everyone in the end.

Has anyone watched "Quarterback" yet? How did the Falcons/Mariota fare?
I've been hearing about this show for a while, mostly via ads on NFL podcasts that I listen to. Has anyone actually watched it yet? Knowing how crazy some of the games were last season, I suspect there is some juicy stuff in there from the Falcons. I just want to see what people think before deciding whether or not to dive into the series.
