Does anyone know the history of Fallback Lowborn?
The King of Delhi started a legitimizing legend, but for the protagonist, he chose his lowborn mother (with no known ancestors) instead of his noble father. The result is hilarious.

CK3 - I'm fed up with the military AI
Currently playing as a Jewish ruler. My head of faith is defending against two wars - a claimant war for the Grand Theocracy of Israel, and a Catholic Crusade for the same title.
More than 390,000 Jewish troops have gathered for the Crusade. They all follow the war leader's army no matter what. Instead of defending against the crusade, the war leader goes off to fight the claimant.
390k troops follow him but they aren't allowed to join the fighting because they aren't in the claimant war. So they just sit around while he slowly loses a war on the aggressor's turf.
Meanwhile the Crusaders show up and conquer Israel. They would have been outnumbered 2:1 by the defenders, except the defenders have no interest in actually defending Israel. They just want to follow the high priest around and contribute nothing while he fights a totally unrelated war.
I wish there was a button for the player to select an allied army, no matter who the war leader is, and make them follow you.

Crusader Kings II - Monarch's Journey Playlists
I went through my channel today and I found all the playlists for the CK2 Monarch's Journey. Anyone here remember this? Leading up to the release of CK3, they had this event, where they put out "Monarch's Journeys" with specific little tasks and goals. A bit like Achievements. You'd earn points and unlock cosmetics for CK3 - these are now all available for everyone.
I put together all the playlists for the various Journey's that I finished as well as a few metrics I had collected back then.
Did you play these at all?

CK3 - Can heresies occur in any religion, or are they limited to Christianity?
I'm on my fifth playthrough of the game, 597 hours in total. The first four playthroughs were as various Pagan and Muslim faiths. I never once saw anything about a heresy appear in game.
This time around I decided to start as a Catholic and establish a new Christian faith. I've already been given two separate prompts asking me if I want to convert to the Cathar heresy, and then later my new Christian faith was declared a heresy and about six random rulers throughout Europe decided to convert to my faith without any input from me.
Seems like heresies are a big deal when you start as a European Catholic but I had no idea they even existed before this. I tried reading up on it and it seems like heresies occur when Fervor is too low.
Does anyone know if heresies can occur in other religions? I usually don't pay close attention to Fervor, so I'm not sure if it's a Christian-exclusive mechanic, or if Catholicism just happens to be one of the only faiths with such a swingy Fervor score.

Recommendations for similar games?
I'm absolutely loving CK3 and wondering if anyone can recommend something similar for me.
I'm looking for games with personal character-based role-playing, where you can influence and customize your culture, religion and government. I like light-to-moderate strategy elements, but I'm more interested in the world-building and immersion. I don't mind whether it's a historical setting or not.
Looking forward to hearing your favorite recommendations! Thanks in advance!

Renewed Jihad makes no sense...?
This event randomly popped up while I was playing. My character is the Sunni Caliph. I have a custom faith with the Pacifism tenet; I thought I needed Struggle and Submission to initiate Great Holy Wars at all. Also, why would I need to "retake" the core regions when my faith already controls all five holy sites? And why didn't I have any decision or input if my own character is the one declaring an era of renewed Jihad?
This is bizarre.

CK3 Question - Player Heir has wrong government type
EDIT: Please disregard. I just learned that inheriting a higher-tier title changes your government type to match that title's government type. Earlier on in the game, my player heir had an equal-tier title when she inherited mine and it caused my government type to switch from Tribal to Feudal. I was falsely worried that the same thing would happen here and switch my type to Clan.
I'm a Feudal ruler. I married the heir to a Clan ruler. I later vassalized said ruler. Long story short, my player heir inherited a Clan realm and I am now her liege.
From what I understand, when she inherits my titles, the entire top realm will become Clan to match her government type. I don't want this to happen.
I can't simply revoke her title and give it back, because as my daughter, she is my Ally and I have no just cause for title revocation.
I could just nominate a different heir (elective succession), but I really don't want to. My player heir is an Athletic Amazonian Beautiful Midas-Touched Genius with virtuous personality traits and I was REALLY looking forward to her being my successor.
Is there any way I can force her to change her government type back to Feudal, preferably without using hostile schemes against her? I'm at a loss.

I knew I couldn't defend against the Mongols in open warfare...
...so I arranged a marriage between my daughter and the Khagan's heir. Then all I had to do was murder my son-in-law, wait for the elderly Khagan to die, and boom. The Mongol emperor is now my 6-year-old grandchild and ward. I think I'm safe from Mongol aggression for the time being.
By the way, it was the fastest and easiest murder I ever committed. I don't even have any Intrigue perks. 23 agents joined immediately. I guess those conquered vassals really hated their overlords.
(Now I just hope my leper grandson survives childhood.)

How are the titles of territories determined?
Maybe I'm just not phrasing the question right, but I can't seem to find the answer online.
When I conquer "The Petty Kingdom of X" and "The Earldom of Y," why do they change into "The Duchy of X" and "The County of Y?"
If I want to choose a different naming scheme for territories within my realm, is it possible to do so? (I'm aware that I can customize any title that I hold directly, but I'm curious if the default naming scheme can be changed throughout my realm)

CK3 War Score question - Preemptively abducting an Important Prisoner?
I want to seize important territory from a significantly stronger ruler. Using one of the Intrigue perks, I've managed to abduct his primary heir. While I work on bolstering my army, I figured I'd ask if you all know the answer to this.
Will I start out with +50 War Score for having his primary heir as my prisoner? Or does it only count prisoners taken during the war?
Follow-up question, is there any way to exploit a hook against the enemy ruler in the war? I'm in the middle of a scheme to fabricate a hook against him but I'm not certain how I should use it.

CK3 basics - Victory
Hey guys,
Just got CK3 after watching Viking and wanting to play with essentially royal court simulator.
Loving it so far, I have become king of all of Ireland with petty king Brian's son but I've got no victory screen.
Is this like other paradox games where there are short victories and long victories?
Essentially I'm wondering if it's time to start a new campaign or if there's some screen I can go-to to see my current campaign goal.
Any help would be appreciated, this community looks like it needed some love so I figure ask here before I search for an ancient reddit post.

Cool Stuff Happening In the CK3 Modding Space
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/712158
> Some of you fellow grand strategy lovers may know about one of Paradox's newer games, Crusader Kings 3, but have you been paying attention to what's been happening in modding? Let me take you through some of the coolest work that is happening right now. > > Let's start off with Godherja. Godherja takes you to a completely custom fantasy world, completely with magic, ridiculously deep lore, several stories, and a world that feels alive. A world torn asunder by destructive living magic gone awry, Aeras is barely holding on. Become a powerful, immortal mage-emperor and try to take over the world, become known for your monster hunting prowess, slaying beast known only to legend. Or perhaps just wait in anticipation, for the Fog to end it all. Even more exciting are two upcoming updates, the updated magic system to make it interact with the characters and the world even more, and the liches. Oh boy the liches. > > Next up on the list is Rajas of Asia. Now if you love history, especially when it's not eurocentric, then this mod is for you. I have personally seen the hours of dedication poured into this mod. Where to begin. Well let's start with the fact that almost the entirety of Asia has been added, with more to come! You can play as the Great Tang Empire, as Balhae, anywhere that you like, extending all the way to Papua. Not only does this mod have the awesome Cultural and Religious Minority system integrated (made by the same dev shoutout to Nezaros), but there is also City of Wonders 2 to give you metropolises, Dharmachakra for wonderful religious depth, and so many more. Soon to come to this mod is a complete rework of the Steppes, which is sorely needed, and there are whispers of more bookmarks to come! > > I'd be remise if I did not mention RICE and VIET, which to me go hand in hand. RICE provides flavor packs for several areas of the game including, Moravia, one that allows you to interact with Greenland, and Sub-Saharan Africa. VIET adds over 1000 events. Both of these mods together will surely make all of your games just burst with flavor and uniqueness. > > Finally, I'd like to mention Elder Kings 2 (I'd recommend that you play it with c0da, a gamerule mod for it). This'll be a short one as it speaks for itself. The entirety of Nirn in the second era has been taken into the world of CK3 for you to enjoy! Patrons, events, decisions, and all your favorite kingdoms are there! > > This is just a short foray into the world of CK3 modding. There are several other impressive mods. Sinews of War with its creative use of the struggle system for trade, Dynamic Trade Routes with its depth of resources and coin. Not to mention graphical mods like Ethnicities and Portraits, and Community Flavor Pack. There is a lot to this space. I was just so saddened to see how quiet this community was and had to make a post about one of my favorite games. Anywho, links for those who want to check these awesome mods out: > > Godherja: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2326030123 > Manual Download - https://www.moddb.com/mods/godherja-the-dying-world > > Rajas of Asia: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2509174436 > Paradox Plaza - https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/mods/45292/Any > > RICE: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2273832430 > Paradox Plaza - https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/mods/15338/Any > > VIET: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2227658180 > Paradox Plaza - https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/mods/12992/Any > > Elder Kings 2: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2887120253 > Manual Download - https://www.nexusmods.com/crusaderkings3/mods/32/ > > c0da: > Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2893175092 > Manual Download - https://catalogue.smods.ru/archives/137214

Just recorded the finale to my series CK3: Pagan Flanders
I just recorded the finale of my current CK3 series, Pagan Flanders, in which I dismantle the Papacy. I'm not starting another series right away, as I am looking forward to the release of Starfield and expect to focus on that throughout September.
I will be back to record more CK3 for sure. Thinking of doing the Al Andalus achievement next.

Does anyone still need CK1/CK2 DLC Keys for steam? I have some leftovers.
Please respond if anyone needs any (or all) of these. I will check this post tomorrow. If there's more than one comment per item, I'm going to roll a physical dice. If noone responds until tomorrow, the first to comment afterwards will get it - doesn't matter if it's a week or a year.
- Crusader Kings II
- Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods DLC
- Crusader Kings II: The Republic
- Crusader Kings II: Horse Lords
- Crusader Kings II: Way of Life
- Crusader Kings II: Charlemagne

I also have a Key for:
- Crusader Kings Complete

Your most tragic character arc?
I want to hear about the worst (virtual) lives that you've lived in ck2 and ck3!
I'll start by telling you about Duke Giovanni the Unfortunate. I was a small Italian duke up by Verona. My father had died when I was 5, so I had been ruling from a young age over a generally stable land. It was quiet and kind of dull, but I got my education from my mother (who would later be tortured to death after being captured by raiders. By my 20's, I found myself with a powerful bargaining chip: my wife (traditionally married) had a strong claim on the Italian throne as a close relative of the former king. Naturally I made some alliances, built up an army, and declared war to put her on top by the time I was about 30.
I rp'd this war in a pretty fun way: I acted as if my wife, as the future queen (hopefully) was leading the war effort, and I was simply a major ally providing troops and strategic input. With my high martial skill, I was leading the future queen's main army as a commander. A few years into the war I caught the Italian forces off guard during a major river crossing and massacred their main forces. The war was basically one! One problem though: my character had been horribly wounded during the battle. The resulting treatment from my physician saved my life from infection, but lost me my leg.
No problem though! It was all worth it. The love of my life would take the throne! 98% warscore... 99%... SHE DIED OF GREAT POX. FUCK.
Turns out she got great pox from FUCKING THE KING, HER UNCLE. This guy wanted to go further than just cucking me and inadvertently killing my wife, though. When my claimant war ended after the death, he threw me in his dungeon and maimed me for my crimes. I now had 0 legs. My character lived another year before the combined effects of crippling depression, brutal injuries, and a poorly timed illness killed him. His 3-year-old son took the throne.
The family would eventually go on to take Italy, form Italia, and go on to claim all the lands once held by Charlemagne. But I'll never forget Giovanni and his terrible, terrible life and death.

What are your favorite mods?
I'm still waiting on some of the total conversions to get more developed, so I tend to stick to QoL mods. Here are some of mine:
In My Humble Opinion adds the ability to see what your current character links of a character you're looking at - just like in CK2 which is great for some quick RP
Prisoner's of War is a great small additional in which characters taken captive in battle don't just teleport to the war leaders dungeon and are instead held by the capturing army until the make it back to their borders.
What are your favorites???
