Lemmy.zip Server Update September 2024
  • Thank you for continuing to share these updates! And a hearty congratulations to you and your partner, wishing you both a very happy married life!

  • What Are You Playing This Week? September 18, 2023 edition
  • Starfield. Still figuring out lots of things since not everything is intuitive. Also started playing It Takes Two with my SO who has never held a controller before. It's been an exercise in patience. On one hand I am happy that she willing to pick up a controller and play with me. I am sure it's as frustrating for her as it's for me. But damn is it tough to go so slow.

  • Introducing: old.lemmy.zip
  • Oh yeaah. Don't think it's relevant here, but I just wanted to post this gif.

  • What is your favorite open source software?
  • There are certain sites which terminate your sessions after a while. For example, banking sites or most government portals. In such situations, the auto fill function is very handy.

  • Can we please get a subscribed feed option?
  • In my opinion this is not very intuitive. A drop down in the settings menu would be more obvious to users.

  • What should I look for when I’m choosing an instance?
  • I am on Lemmy.zip and the admins are very transparent on the funding as they have set up an Open Collective page, and they are also very receptive to user suggestions and feedback.

  • Help, I am scared...
  • Absolute madlad

  • [Android][App] Obtainium. Get Android App Updates Directly From the Source.
  • Many of the lemmy apps that are still in development are not released on any of these stores.

  • YSK: Pixelfed replaced Instagram for me, the same way Lemmy replaced reddit.
  • I didn't know this was possible! Thanks for sharing, will give this a try.

  • Best Lemmy client for Android?
  • I have most of the Android apps installed, but the two I keep switching between are Connect and Thunder. Both devs keep pushing out updates to the apps periodically and are very responsive to user feedback.

  • Connect 1.0.46 Released
  • It's fixed in the latest update!

  • Connect 1.0.46 Released
  • Relieved to hear that I am not the only one! I did the usual cache and storage clean up but that did not solve the issue for me.

  • Community for Thunder Nightly Testing
  • If people are clicking the link in the post above, it will not redirect them from within the same instance. Try this link instead - [email protected]

  • Saturday APPreciation thread (Jul 1 2023) - Your weekly app recommendation/request thread!
  • There are a lot of options for Lemmy, but beware they still need to mature a bit. The two apps I keep using the most are Thunder and Connect for Lemmy. Lots of users swear by Liftoff but I find the aesthetics a bit lacking for me. There's also Lemming which is the most barebones but has a great UI for something that has only had a couple of alpha releases. Most if not all of these are available to download from Github.

  • Connect 1.0.46 Released
  • The app icon looks great in the app drawer, but when you create a shortcut on thehome screen, the dynamic color fills the whole icon.

  • The fastest in the west.
  • Seems to be bugged as the dynamic color from my theme seems to be filling up the icon. Image upload seems to be bugged across lemmy apps + the web. Not sure if it's an issue with Lemmy 0.18. Anyway, here's the screenshot - https://ibb.co/hsThPVZ

  • What's your lemmy app of choice?
  • Another (mostly) happy Connect user here! It's crazy the blistering pace at which the Dev keeps pumping out updates. I keep alternating between Connect and Thunder. I think Liftoff still needs some UI polish and it doesn't handle jumping to communities in different instances very gracefully.

  • which app are you using?
  • Another Connect for Lemmy use here. Apart from Jerboa, I feel Conner and Thunder have the most polished UI so far. The Connect Dev also seems to be super proactive and keeps rolling out multiple updates in a day with core features. It's even more impressive when you consider that this is just a solo dev. Also waiting to see how Sync for Lemmy turns out!
