Corporate greed is killing RuneScape. What do people play instead?
  • Minimal. There’s a unique captcha system in harvesting that makes it difficult to bot. The closest thing to bad bots are people running multiple accounts on single account servers to run dungeons. It’s a bannable offense and people do get banned for doing it.

  • Try Wakfu. There are a lot of chill trades to grind casually and the economy is completely player driven. There are no NPCs to buy or sell your loot to.

The PvE gameplay loop is really fun. The game has an adjustable level system that encourages players to replay lower level dungeons. Battles are turn based and have a surprising amount of strategy.

The only real problem with the game is that the devs seem to not care about player growth at all. They do zero marketing and sometimes the registration system is broken and won’t get fixed for awhile. It’s like the opposite problem to RuneScape.

    How it works

    1. Post a wish, like for a genie (e.g. "I wish for a million dollars")
    2. People comment with ways it can backfire. (e.g. "Great! Here's 2700 Zimbabwean dollars.")
    3. Profit!

People are paying out of pocket or using their own PC for work
  • If, as an employee, you offer your personal laptop or pay for work expenses out of pocket without asking to get it reimbursed, no functioning company will question it or bother.

If you need something for work and they won’t give it to you, then you can’t work. It’s as simple as that.

  • I don’t usually recognize Lemmy users but I’ve run into your posts a lot these last few days. I assumed you were a bot but from interactions like these it’s clear you mean well. Love to see Lemmy growing from power users like yourself!

  • Have you ever realized just how broken you are?
  • I had a similar relationship with my father. He was an alcoholic. These days I don’t have much of a relationship with him. I recognize that he’s a better person now that he’s older, but I don’t really see him as “dad”. Just “father”.

My mom sometimes asks if I will regret not spending more time with him. Honestly, I’m not sure I would. I don’t have many fond memories with him at all. It’s weird saying this knowing that I have a father who loves me in his own way when others might not have one at all.

  • Why are weather apps so bad at telling you the current weather?
  • Sounds like the system is just stuck on old tech. If I can tell that rain will reach my area from a precipitation radar map then I’m fairly certain an ML based system can do this too.

I suppose there’s just no money in it.

  • Why are weather apps so bad at telling you the current weather?

I understand that weather on TV can’t be hyperlocally accurate. But a weather app on my phone has my exact GPS coordinates. Why can’t it tell me exactly when a rain cloud will be passing over my location?

It’s gotten to the point where I just use precipitation maps to figure out my rain chances for the day.

The hourly forecast is mostly useless because it’s not a chance % but a % of the area that will be raining.

  • Any recommendations for iPhone screen protectors that do not take away from the display?

I've noticed that most commercially available glass screen protectors are too reflective, or too noticeable. It really takes away from the gorgeous Apple display.

Has anyone used a brand that mirrors the quality of finish that comes on the iPhone displays?

Do you tip for takeout? (How much?)

Just learned that a friend of mine always tips 10% on takeout. Ive never tipped on takeout unless they offered me a water/soda while I waited or something.

US biased, but I’m a little curious about other countries as well.

    Charger: Weapon Attack…

… is an extremely lackluster feat. I had originally read the skill description as being a main OR bonus attack and that felt really strong. After getting the feat I am now stuck with a meaningless skill that takes both actions for what is essentially just a walk + hit.

Am I missing something with this feat?

No way to reset or go back other than by resetting the app. Screen is completely blank and white. Only the system menu bar on the very top is visible (clock, cell signal, wifi signal, and battery).

    > https://archive.is/2CsfM > > House Bill 2127, which takes effect on Sept. 1, will do away with local rules that require water breaks for construction workers. The cities of Austin and Dallas, for example, require 10-minute breaks every four hours. San Antonio officials had been considering a similar ordinance. > > “We are human beings who need respect,” Martínez said. “We really need to be allowed to work without problems, without any barriers … Believe me, we are dying inside those buildings when they take away our water and our [break] time.”

How do I see posts I've made on other instances?

I had made a post on a Beehaw community. I see comments in my inbox, but when I click “Posts” in my profile nothing shows up. To be clear, the beehaw post is my only post ever on this account.
