What's stopping him?
  • I'm not so sure it's civility politics that is limiting him here. I doubt this nakedly corrupt and partisan court would actually side with his administration when it comes to agreeing that his acts are indeed official. Especially if said acts don't fit with the Federalist Society's ideology.

If he doesn't get re-elected that's a different story, and he is realistically too old to face major consequences for his actions... so it would be great if he would at least have special forces rough these guys up a little bit to make a point about the necessary limits on executive power.

  • A new Resident Evil is in the works
  • I liked the remakes of 2 and 3, and 4.

5 and 6 were fun to play co-op. I generally prefer third person games, which is why I haven't played 7.

5 was over the top, and I like how in 6, there was a marked difference between playing as Ada, Leon vs the more action heavy Chris playthrough.

They could do another game like 6 but go harder with that concept of picking your play style.

  • Rachel Maddow Warns That SCOTUS Trump Immunity Decision Is ‘a Death Squad Ruling’ | Video
  • My understanding is that immunity for official acts WOULD cover an airstrike on Trump, or a death squad assassination.

But that possibly the speech in front of the capital where he said "we're going to go fight like hell to take our country back" is most likely NOT an official act? Maybe they could hold him accountable for that since it was NOT communication with one of his departments?

Interested in any clarification anyone can offer.

  • Ladybird - a brand new browser engine that isn't Google or Mozilla
  • I've also encountered a few issues with Firefox on mobile, but not enough to stop using it as my daily driver.

I don't really blame Firefox though, I'd guess that their implementation is closer to the spec than Chrome's but that companies are cheaping out on testing in multiple browsers.

  • Ladybird - a brand new browser engine that isn't Google or Mozilla
  • I'm normally in the camp that copyleft prevents enterprise adoption, and therefore limits users/contributors... but in this case I agree. I'd like browsers to be copyleft. I'd like to be able to see what kind of sketchy shit Edge and Chrome are throwing on top of Chromium and have it out in the open.

Question for the free software community...

If I used a headless version of a copyleft browser as part of an automated testing suite for proprietary enterprise software, does that violate the copyleft license?

  • Block rule
  • I instance blocked lemmy.ml because of mods deleting my comments. I don't want to accidentally get involved in discussions and spend time writing comments for them to just be deleted because the mods don't agree with me.

  • NJ Does Not Renew Trump's Liquor Licenses At 2 Golf Clubs After Felony Conviction
  • It really is that bad. Watch the videos of Biden from the Democratic convention in 2008 if anyone has any doubts.

I remember in 2015 I thought the most pathetic ballot would be Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush because it would be like we lived in a hereditary monarchy. I had no idea how bad Trump was and underestimated him bigly.

Still, since we know fascism is characterized by the near worship of a strongman leader, I'm perfectly fine taking the opposite approach. If Biden is in cognitive decline, so what? As long as his administration continues to do good work, his administration gets my vote.

  • Biden Administration Opposes Surgery for Transgender Minors
  • The right: "Trans people shouldn't exist, people who allow boys to dress as girls and use different pronouns are groomers and should be shot. The far left wants to mutilate your children and put them on hormone drugs."

Moderates: "Adults can do what they want, and kids should be loved and supported even if they want to present as a different gender. Surgeries and drugs are a bridge too far, and should wait until the child is of age."

Leftists on Lemmy: "If you don't support transgender surgeries and drugs for kids, you're the enemy"

Do you really think that people who hold the moderate position are the enemy?

This kind of thinking is exactly why we have such a festering fascism problem in western civilization right now.

My enemy is the far right fascists, and I want to be able to tell independent voters that they're wrong about the left, that the left does NOT want to give their kids permanent surgeries and life altering drugs until they are adults that can make those decisions.

I want to be able to tell them that the trans issue is being used to divide us and get people to vote against their economic interests.

Maybe let's just stay focused about who the enemy really is, so that when the dust settles, more reasonable people can have an adult discussion about where the line is on these sorts of issues. I don't think this is a settled issue, even within "the left".

  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Announcement Trailer
  • This late in the Switch's lifecycle, I'd argue that the existence of a new game as big as a Prime sequel is good to remind people of. Haven't touched my Switch in a while, but will likely be picking it up again for Zelda and Prime.

  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Announcement Trailer
  • They did great with Metroid Dread, putting a new spin on an old classic.

I have some faith that they won't just be rehashing an old formula and that this "Beyond" aspect will have some gameplay twists.

This trailer seems meant to reassure those of us who have been waiting decades for a true successor to Prime that "yes, in fact this is it".

I expect we will see more trailers as it gets closer, teasing some of the new story and gameplay innovations once they are more polished.

  • Financial situation
  • Isn't she the one that spilled those details which caused him to lose roles and sue her? I guess if she didn't want those details public she wouldn't have shared them right? Maybe I'm missing something.

  • What it's like to be a developer in 2024
  • Some of this is just because some of these frameworks and technologies have been around for a while and they iterate frequently. I see a ton of Azure content that is obsolete after only a few years.
