What have you learned recently? Which rabbit hole have you been digging into?
  • Currently programming an NES emulator. This is like the 5th iteration over the last 10 years since it's been an obsession of mine for years. Got kinda motivated to try it again since nintendo is burning all the switch emulators down and I want to get skilled enough to try one of those. So far I've got a near perfect 6502 emulator with BCD support (The NES uses a different version without, but I thought it'd be useful for later projects) written in rust, currently writing out the PPU and losing hair. I'm the most excited about this version because I actually sort of know what I'm doing now, I have horrible dyslexia and dysgraphia so I often failed to actually read technical docs all the way through, but I've improved a lot on that recently. Got the emulated CPU running software within about 6 hours combined effort, so we'll see how the rest goes.

  • Hurricane Katrina vs. Hurricane Helene
  • Reminds me of youtuber LGR's latest video, he didn't prepare much because the storms don't normally reach that far inland, and unfortunately he had a lot of his collection damaged because 2 massive trees sliced his house clean in half. Makes me think that the midwest will soon get more populated due to its position away from coastlines

  • Here, and Tumblr. Youtube is just an entertaintment app to me because the comment section of every video is so insanely toxic interaction is impossible. Tumblr has a strange algorithm that boosts old posts (like, decades old) as much as new ones, which keeps things fresher funnily enough

  • Sleepy no more: Fischer-Osborn U.S. Senate race in Nebraska wakes up
  • Currently in a very red part of nebraska, there are tons and tons of support signs for osborne out in front of businesses and homes. I have yet to see any for fischer. Even the republicans with trump signs in front of their homes also advertise support for osborne. I feel like this would be a loss for deb and that's why they are panicking so much
