Awful - 4 Songs (2024)
Speaking of Deluxe Bias… here's the newest cassette of miniscule runtime from that Wyoming label specializing in exactly that one kind of thing. Another completely blown-out assault on the senses walking a thin line between ultra-rough LoFi fuzz-, garage- and eggpunk resulting in some exquisite mayhem which may plausibly get described as a curious blend of the likes of Print Head, Warm Bodies, Snooper and Fugitive Bubble.
iPad Baby - TradCath Terrorists
iPad Baby of Glassboro, New Jersey first came to my attention with a fun little debut EP last fall but their newest EP/mini-LP thingy is just a so much stronger, more consistent effort in which they dial the weird energy and creativity up to eleven, coalescing into a new lump of completely off-the-rails insanity sure to please discerning fans of all kinds of other unmedicated, beautiful trainwrecks in the realm of Egg-, Synth- and Garage Punk as done by the likes of Zoids, The Gobs, Mateo Manic, Prison Affair, Metdog, Nuts or Nubot555, to name a few.
Balaclava - The 1/4 Inch Almanac (2024)

> A bucketload of unhealthy sugary joy, the second EP by this NY act delivering a quirky and catchy mix of synth- and garage-, art- and eggpunk that skillfully and precisely hits kind of a sweet spot inbetween the sonic worlds of, say, Metdog, Smirk and Cherry Cheeks, more or less. Good shit!
The Gobs - The Gobs (2024)

> New shit by these Olympia, Washington Lo-Fi punks and you kinda know what's gonna hit you: More of that deliciously blown out and catchy-as-fuck garage-/electro/fuzz punk dementia for the moderately desensitized mind, hellbent on damaging your speakers, corrupting your soul, spilling your booze and puking on your carpet. Very negative influence these kids, stay away!
Spewed Brain - Spewed Brain (2024)

> Following up on their much rougher, hardcore-leaning International Heartthrob EP of last year, Indiana's Spewed Brain take their sound into a catchier, slightly egg-ish direction on their new LP while staying delightfully fucked-up and unpredictable, at different times reminding me of groups as diverse as, say, Trauma Harness, Print Head, Exwhite, The Gobs, Snooper, Rolex, Witch Piss or Slimex.
Billiam - Jump To 3D (2024)

> Alrighty, so here's a new Billiam record doing all the awesome tricks a new Billiam record's supposed to do and by now i'm sure you've long since made up your mind about the dude and whether you love or hate his schtick - kinda the musical equivalent to a Wes Anderson flick i guess. I'm firmly in the "love" camp concerning both Billiam and Wes Anderson though and even if they'd both just continue to re-make that exact same kind of film/record for the rest of their lives, i can always take one more of that!
Paulo Vicious - Paulo Vicious / Beer - Beer II (2024) (2024)

> Another mysterious eggpunk bomb has dropped from… well, where in the world actually? Released on a Tel Aviv label, the song titles, as google translate tells me, are apparently portuguese. Then again, sound-wise, the closest reference would probably be the blown-out mayhem of Barcelona genre overlords Prison Affair with further comparisons to be made to Cologne's Nuts, the early works of australian groups á la Set-Top Box, Eugh, Midgee, Research Reactor Corp and, to come full circle eventually, Tel Aviv's own crude eggpunk sensation Victor would fit nicely in there too. So, long story short, this is some premium grade globetrotting shit, regardless of where these folks might actually be located. > > Yet another good reference point, then again, would be Charleston, South Carolina's Beer and, speaking of the devil, the world's most beerest beer band has just released their second extended play to which most of what i've just said is gonna apply verbatim so i'm not gonna repeat myself and instead just gonna crank up the good shit and advise you to do the same 'cos i know your neighbors are just gonna love it!
Metdog - Questions and Answers Regarding Computers and Screens (2024)
It's shaping up to be a pretty awesome week for eggpunk already, helped further along by another genre fixture of the last couple years, Melbourne's Metdog, having just released their full length debut after an impeccable string of EPs and singles. They promised shit about computers and oh boy do we get shit about computers here, leaving more questions than answers though, most of which begin with "What the fuck…?". Perfectly underscoring the subject matter we get to witness the group at their most electronically inclined so far, their overall vibe here being reminiscent of a bizarre 8-bit mashup of vintage Ausmuteants with the distinct added flourish of Windows 3.11 midi files.
Rude Television - I Want To Believe (2024)
Having first come to my attention via a split tape with AJ Cortes and The Burglars, this group from West Palm Beach, Florida has only gotten stronger with every new release and this one is no exception, delivering a new round of catchy, compact blasts in the somewhat eggy realms of power pop, synth- and garage punk evoking thoroughly favorable comparisons to the likes of Gee Tee, Erik Nervous, Vaguess and Satanic Togas.
Klint - Stark EP & Should Be Honey / Sherbet (Golden Twenties) 7" (2024)

> https://klint-haithabu.bandcamp.com/album/stark-ep > https://goodbyeboozydigital.bandcamp.com/album/should-be-honey-sherbet > > Always an occasion of pure, unmitigated joy, new songs by Schleswig, Germany solo viking synth punk warrior Klint. The self-released new Stark EP delivers six-and-a-half excellent new blows of the equally rough and noisy, weird and catchy as fuck synth punk action we all know and love. His Should be Honey / Sherbet 7" released simultaneously via italian garage punk institution Goodbye Boozy then goes on a thrilling experimental side quest involving heavy use of ancient brass and vocal samples pulled from 1920s swing records. This is something… kinda random, baffling and unexpected for sure. Sick shit!
Gremlin - Same Fate / Bliss (2023)
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/9531460
> Following their still fresh, sensational debut EP, this new 2-track digital single of Cincinnati's Gremlins can do no wrong either, Same Fate being a snappy and perfectly economical garage punk ditty while Bliss once again taps into their more psych-infused melodic sensibilities with some distinct hints of Radioactivity, Ex-Gold or Bad Sports.
