about the final answer bot

Well, since there are people asking there should be a bot posting final answer, so right now needs your opinion, due to lack to features in Lemmy:

  1. There is no flair;
  2. There is no ability to edit user’s post as mod;
  3. There is no pinning comments function.

If you guys are fine for the just a generic bot reply in the comments, I will go and build one. Or if you have a better idea, comment about it

Also just a reminder that you can free to comment in this post.

Edit: Some people might not know what is this final answer bot. Back in the r/askouija, there is a bot running that will automatically set flair to Ouija says: <stuff> for the first answer with goodbye that is over a certain amount of upvotes. You can also customize it by setting a custom upvote threshold using “minscore: <num>”. The image below is what it looks like:

!

People have been asking for this bot since the beginning of this community that I always end up with finding it not feasible. Due to someone raising the question again recently, I decided to start this post to ask for some extra opinions.

Please read the sidebar BEFORE commenting or posting!

Due to the increasing people joining the community and, due to not knowing what this sub is and leads to violate Rule 2, PLEASE read the sidebar BEFORE commenting or posting!

I've just reallized that the concept of this community is just Cards Against Humanity, but one letter at a time

Not complaining, just making a statement

Some Moderating Changes and looking for additional moderators

Two New announcements:

  1. The Main Moderator will now be my new main account @[email protected] ; but this account will still be used as posting and shitposting and such, so I will still post in this account but I will moderate under my new account;
  2. Right now as violation of rules increases, I am looking for a new moderator on helping me. Please DM this account or @[email protected] to apply; Active user in this community will be considered first.

A reminder of Rule 2

Recently I saw more people start commenting without following rules and especially rule 2, so I think it’s a good idea to reintroduce this community:

This is “Ask Lemmy, Ouija Style”. Ouija here is referring to the Ouija Board that used to communicate with spirits and it look something like this:

!A Ouija board

To play the Ouija board to communicate with spirits, one needs to place one’s fingers on the planchette, and it is moved about the board to spell out words letter by letter, and then finally, “goodbye”. This is the part we refer as Ouija Style.

Technically saying, there is usually also “yes” and “no”, but including them in commenting makes it less fun to comment, so usually we don’t do that here.

This is generally how Ouija Style works, and just to remind you again with Rule 2:

> All comments must be a single character (including number and emoji, they too have to be single letter), except: When the title begin with [Meta].

Hope you have fun commenting, spirits!

Rules (PLEASE read before commenting or posting!)

Updated on Jul 19, 2023: update Rule 2

> This is for people who don't read sidebar > > this is adopted rule from r/AskOuija; but due to the difference between Reddit and Lemmy (for example, there is no flair) many things are not doable here.

  1. No shitposting. This includes posts that start with "if this gets X upvotes..."
  2. Posts must ask a question (or be answerable in some way).
  3. All comments must be a single character (including number and emoji, they too have to be single letter), except:
    • When the title begin with [Meta].
  4. If you feel that the Ouija has completed its answer, you may comment with "Goodbye" to end the thread.
  5. You may add commentary as long as it's a child comment of a "goodbye" (in reply to a "goodbye", in reply to a comment that's replying to a "goodbye", etc).
  6. You may not reply directly to your own letter comment (this includes replying to your own letter with a Goodbye) but you can still reply multiple times in a thread.
  7. You may not help answer your own question. You can still reply to a Goodbye, but you cannot add letters or Goodbyes. You've done your job; let the spirits do theirs.
  8. No bots.

These rules are a work-in-progress and subject to change. Feedback is welcome.
