Yeah I had to switch to vlemmy.net for it to work, which involved creating a new account and getting it approved. If this is the type of shit we have to put up with using Lemmy then I may as well just go back to Reddit
None of the people hosting these instances were prepared for the massive influx of new users.
Lemmy is still a platform in it's infancy, many of the people running these instances are trying their hardest to keep things afloat.
Reddit is one of the largest platforms that exists and the number of people seeking an alternative is astronomical.
Besides that, if Reddit goes down, it's down. You can't just seek out another instance and use that, this is something I would personally consider a feature.
