For a while the idea of going to New Zealand for a honeymoon was stuck in my head (in part because fiancé and I really like Lord of the Rings), but I think flying there from the US right after a wedding would be miserable for me. So instead we're playing it easy and going to Disney! It'll also be my first time ever going there :3
Oh man! New Zealand is on my wishlist because of Lord of the Rings too. We considered a 3-month extended trip for a bit but are now leaning towards something smaller. We also are thinking of going up to a year after our actual wedding since we both just started new jobs after moving to the same city (yay closing the gap after 3 years long-distance!) and I want to build up some PTO/experience/savings where taking a longer period of time off wouldn't cause hassles.
Right now we're thinking a combo of France and Australia. France is to see my extended family post-wedding and Australia is because my fiance remembers being really happy during study abroad there and we could go surfing/climbing/adventuring together. Maybe two weeks each? And churning the credit cards to get miles so maybe we'll get some business/first class flights freeeeeee.
I think delayed honeymoons make a lot of sense and it seems like more people are opting for them! Also congrats on the new job and getting to close the gap!
Might as well pop over to New Zealand if you go all the way to Australia ;) Sounds like an awesome trip!
