Freaking crazy, next year might be better...nothing left to burn.
11 1 ReplyAccording to https://natural-resources.canada.ca/our-natural-resources/forests/state-canadas-forests-report/how-much-forest-does-canada-have/17601 -- we have 362 million hectares of forest.
We've burned 7.75/362 this year, or just over 2%. If I was a gambling man, I'd wager we reach 3% of our forest burned this year.
However, that leaves a bunch for next year yet...

9 0 ReplyForest fires aren't a bad thing. There's also evidence that over-zealous fire fighting causes worse fires in the long term as well.
4 2 ReplyControlled burns to manage debris are fine. The problem is that houses and development have been built in fire zones and make fire fighting more difficult.
