I’m actually really enjoying watching it grow, I joined on another account at under 10k then on this account (which is now my main) at around 100k, now it’s over 1m. I know that number is slightly inflated since there’s bots and multiple accounts for some users but still, my point still stands
Agreed! I have very high hopes. There’s also some pretty great third party apps being developed that I have high hopes for too. Mlem looks like it might be changing hands soon so that’ll be interesting, Limbo had a fantastic 0.0.1 (1) release (best first release of a beta app I’ve seen so far) and Memmy is getting very regular updates (several per day) and is moving along at a very rapid pace because of that, with really cool features being added! I’ve spoken with the three devs of Memy several times and they’re all pretty awesome people, and their UX designer in particular, with whom I’ve spoken the most, has some really excellent ideas and is quite talented. Things are looking very bright for Lemmy indeed
Couldn’t agree more. It’s been exciting to see the development, connect with people, and see meaningful content posted every day.
I have found myself actually being more open to exploring new and different content rather than sticking with my typical genres. Makes it easier as the site grows to learn more and appreciate it.
I’d highly suggest making communities if you think of something no one has made yet, or if there’s subreddits without communities here. Most people seem to be afraid of being a mod here for some reason, so they might look for their favourite community and if they don’t see it here, not bother switching to Lemmy. If the community gets large, you can always add more mods to help, or even hand the keys to someone else. I recently had someone hand me the keys to their community and it was a very easy and smooth operation overall. Also, engage in the smaller communities! They’ll only grow if people post. Not saying you don’t or anything but I try to tell that to everyone when it comes up, and given that this post is getting a bit of attention at the moment, hopefully someone will read this and decide to be more active. It doesn’t help to be a lurker
