The 26-year-old is stable and recovering in the hospital, the Department of Transportation says
“The train operator was able to immediately apply the emergency brake when the passenger jumped on the tracks,” said Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino.
This would probably be the hottest take here, but here goes:
Suicide via LRT is stupid. It doesn't run fast enough to cause an instantly fatal injury (unless you get ‘lucky’ enough to be decapitated, though IDK how instant such a death would be). Moreover because of that relatively slow speed, the (poor) driver would still have enough time to react and apply the emergency brakes. One would probably have more ‘success’ crossing Commonwealth Avenue in the dead of the night.
@megane_kun it doesnt have to be a place with lots of people methinks. Its just a message for someone out there or a cry for help maybe? Its like I-wanna-die-but-not-really-just-enough-to-severely-injure-myself-as-an-act-of-self-sabotage kinda attempt.
Anw, i dont know why im indulging in this lol not like I can speak for the semi dead but not really guy who did jump off
Ah~! I get it now. I was conflating the “terrorist” angle with the “cry for help” angle.
True though, I'm also indulging in this train of thought (pun not intended, maybe?) just because. Personally, I'd rather the deed be unseen and unable to be stopped by anyone, but that's just me.
