I just saw @test@[email protected] with a cool username, and like hell, this is a blue ocean for stupid usernames but i went and used my boring username.
You can grab the only one of common names like James or Ali or Chan or Muthu. Or silly ones like AutoAdmin. Or really difficult ones like _underscore_
but for real being able to create unlimited accounts because email is optional is dangerous. I know the site is still in early stage but mods should look into this.
I don't think there's an outright best method, just what the goals of the platform are.
FB and Linked-in are tied to the IRL you, and you tend to watch what you say (or at least, monitor who are your friends).
4Chan is totally unregulated and you can be your weirdest self, but there's a very different kind of human contact because all the interactions never long term.
Reddit doesn't need your email or ID, and you can be your online persona. Some people have multiple accounts for browsing different materials, or discussing problems that they want to keep private from reddit friends.
Myself, I'm totally cool with people having multiple accounts etc.
I was talking about identity theft actually. Should’ve made that clearer.
This is a new site but most of you migrated from Reddit which some of you already have established usernames for years. Many of those usernames are still available for grab. Not everyone is leaving Reddit.
I know mods probably don’t have much control over this so just trying to give PSA. Only matter of time until the trolls from land of boleh come causing troubles.
