The greatest threat will not be the AI, but the hordes of gullible morons who will be manipulated by it.
"The real threat is not the gun, but the bullets that come out of it". It's both, and the malicious actors using the AI (or gun, or other tool).
Don't forget that smart people get gulled too, especially when they think themselves excluded from the "gullible moron" group.
