I've read about it in a German article and the explanation is that it's something different to be demonstrating for Palestine or to be pro Hamas. The latter one is the reason Greta Thunberg is criticized.
I don't know what her view on Hamas is, but I'd be surprised if it were positive. Everyone protesting Israel's genocide is accused of being pro Hamas 100 times a second, so I think that explanation is weak on its face.

German Fridays for Future considers renaming themselves to distantiate themselves from Greta, too.

I didn't down vote you, for what it's worth. I just felt like adding my two cents. Every time someone criticizes Israel they get accused of being pro Hamas, so that's why I'm skeptical of that particular claim. That's all.
