That series was my everything as a kid. I remember begging my step dad for the 10-20mb of space on his 100mb HDD to install Wake of the Ravager. Those were such unique and interesting games.
It's a damn shame that Ravager was so plagued with errors. Funnily enough, when run under DOSBox with different rendering engine selected (Advanced Mame if I recall correctly), the graphics looks arguably even better than in the original, non-emulated version.
