How do you make someone understand that being drafted by force and ordered to invade another country is not a good thing?

I didn't think it's wrong universally, for example, Ukraines current offensive into Russia.
9 5 ReplyUkraine is using special forces for this, who are well paid professionals with strong ideological under pinnings. Those guys are into that shit.
OP is about Russian consript who got deployed in Ukraine "by mistake"
7 1 ReplyBut I'd be okay with Ukraine deploying conscripts to that front.

No argument for the draft is valid.
2 1 ReplyWould you rather see Ukraine fall to Russia than implement a draft?
3 0 ReplyLoaded question but yes
2 2 ReplyHow about WWII? Should the allies have been significantly weaker and prolonged how long the Nazis were in power to avoid a draft?
1 1 ReplyThe possible benefits of something unethical doesn't justify doing it.
1 0 ReplyI'd hold a lesser of two evils justify it. The government already dictates what you need to do. Is it the commanded act of killing people that you think takes it too far?
1 2 Replya lesser of two evils justufies it
Again, no it doesnt.
the government already dictates what you need to do
what? no?
is the command act of killing people that you think takes it too far?
any forced labor takes it too far.
1 0 ReplyThey force jury duty, taxes, traffic laws, and sometimes public service or jail time. Those are all forced labor.
1 2 ReplyThe difference is that the need for a jury of your peers is in the constitution.
Traffic laws are not forced labor. Nor is jail time, that's a punishment.
I'm starting to think you have no idea what you're talking about.
1 0 ReplyThey dictate what you do and don't do. Taxes take a portion of your time as well since you need to work longer. I didn't see how it's categorically different. Just a difference of extent.

Why ought countries risk their existence to avoid a draft? The government already dictates other matters of life and death. Forgoing a draft would force bigger permanent militaries and not allow for some defense in depth strategies.
1 1 ReplyBecause we're better than that.
A state is just a legal entity. The nation and its residents are infinitely more important.
