The next time you're involved in a fender bender, the person who shows up to investigate may not be a police officer. A proposal that's close to becoming law would allow cities to hire and train civilians to handle minor traffic crashes that don't involve an injury.
Looks like they're looking for creative ways to get around the problem of hiring enough cops...

A certain part of me likes the idea of serving the public. However I've never needed a cop's help to deal with a traffic accident before. Typically the person who fucked up owns up to it and we work it out like the adults we are.
