Honestly Onana is a really likeable guy, despite the fact he's been poor for us so far. I like that he plays with passion and takes responsibility when he fucks up. Hopefully he can find some form next season.
Hmm, that's surprising, but DDG was also statistically average to below average for the past 5 years. De gea had glaring weaknesses in his game that he just never fixed throughout his whole career. Phenomenal shot stopper but his distribution, box control/sweeping, and difficulty with penalties left a lot to be desired imo.
Onana's errant pass was the reason we went down 1-0 against Sheffield last week. But he also made a couple of really nice long kicks that resulted in open chances on goal; Garnacho missed one of them right before halftime. As well as some excellent saves. Which basically sums up my feelings, he's made too many big mistakes but he's also made impressive plays fairly regularly. I'm rooting for him.
On what, 300k/week? I know he was getting at least double the next highest paid keeper. But early DDG was quite something, so people tended to give him a lot of slack I guess. But it was pretty clear for awhile that he was well past it.
