I just want to be clear that I've paid for Sync in various ways I think 3 or 4 times now and I'll gladly pay for it again. Jerboa has been at least functional (10x better than when I first started using it a few months ago).
Honestly I feel like I should donate to Lemmy apps I don't even use. Sync will likely become my primary vehicle to the fediverse but the fact that I have a choice is the most important aspect. A healthy competitive app ecosystem is essential.
I ended up buying pro of several reddit apps during my time there just to support the up and coming devs of those apps. Sync will most likely be my daily driver here, but I'd be happy to kick a few bucks towards each of the other Lemmy app devs and buy a pro version. It's the least I could do to show support for the work they've put in so far.
It's just that, well, I started using Sync morev than 10 years ago. Averaged 1.5-2 hours every single day since then. It's very much home for me.
I'm very happy there are other choices and I'm very glad that some people prefer them. But once I learned Sync was coming to Lemmy it automatically earned first dibs on my loyalty.
Jebora wouldn't launch on my phone the first time I tried it a couple weeks ago. Downloaded it again today and now it's my default over Liftoff (which is still a great app). It just gives me the Sync feel. But nothing can beat the real thing so can't wait.
I'm the weirdo who had 3 different Lemmy apps on his phone trying them all out to see what worked best for me and Connect was definitely one of the ones that stood out. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for Connect! I was using Join for Reddit, and Connect works like a charm for me. There are a couple of bugs, but I'm happy as can be. I know you work hard on Connect. "Tap tap hold and slide" would be nice for zooming in pictures, btw. Keep up the good work. I'm pretty sure that Connect is the right one for me.
Using Connect right now. What I really care about is a Frontpage widget like RIF. I'm holding open real estate on the main screen of my Android. Basically the first dev to have that and a decently usable interface (bonus points for a "black" mode) gets the space :)
I checked out connect because of the comments here, and I have to say that's it's freaking awsome. Really lives up to the sync feel. Keep up the great work👌
I've been using Connect and love it! Thank you for the work you've been doing and the recent updates have really improved the usability and performance!
I appreciate your work on Connect. I used every lemmy/fediverse app there is on Android and have to say that the experience on Connect has been great. Unfortunately, my loyalty does lie with Sync, and as you said in your comment, Sync still had more features than Connect does currently. I'd be glad to donate for your work and helping me ease into the fediverse while I am waiting for Sync. However, I don't see an option to donate to you in app or anything like that. If you let some of us know, I'm sure there'd be more people other than myself willing to contribute and show their appreciation of your app.
Thank you so much for your hard work. It's a pleasure meeting you here. Im a reddit refugee and randomly picked an app out of a few options and the improvement has been great.let me know anyway I can support.
Since you're the dev, maybe you can answer a question I have. I just downloaded Connect and noticed if I select a post from a different instance, it won't let me comment or anything saying that I'm not logged in. Is that a bug or am I just not doing something right?
I'm using connect and am enjoying it. It works really well. I would like an option to always open links in the system browser instead of the built in one.
I'm working with wefwef till Boost comes out. I just fell in love with Boost for Reddit and it's similar enough, I'll switch over immediately. There's also Memmy which I would like to try, and it's supposed to be for Android as well, but I can't find any builds and haven't been able to figure out building it for myself
Playstore changed their rules so only "official" apps from a brand can start with the brands name. Happened to all the reddit apps a long while back and they all quickly had to rename to Blah for Reddit, or just Blah or whatever. Like Sync use to be Reddit Sync.
Using the date as a version number for an application that gets frequent updates is very standard. Most users will be expected to be on the latest version always.
Connect is pretty damn good, and I have no qualms about having to depend on it for the next several weeks. Too bad for it that my loyalties lie elsewhere.
The best one for me so far has been Thunder - so easy to use with a sleek UI. Compatible with both iOS & Android. There are obviously some missing features, but it's pretty good for a beta version app.
It was named Reddit Sync before Reddit forced apps to rename a few years back for trade mark reasons.
Sync was named for a feature it had where you could sync posts to your device for offline use. It was super useful as recently as a few months ago when I wanted to mindlessly scroll on a plane.
Can't comment on @[email protected] test post so I'll comment here. I'm so pumped that sync has come so far so quickly. Fingers crossed I can buy the pro version soon!
Sync for Reddit was THE best option for browsing reddit. Everyone praised Apollo on iOS but nothing on Android or iOS was as good as Sync. It was just so consistent with themes and scrolling smoothness.
Bought pro, but it stopped working with microG after a certain version. Froze the version to keep it working, but features gradually stopped working due to missing updates
Which version was it? Sync got completely new revamped version around last year or the year before. This version is superior and with major bug fixes, offering new experience than the previous version.

Hmm not sure, but I remember reading a reddit post 2 years ago with other users complaining about the same thing. I think I tested the newest version like half a year ago and did still not work
I'm doing the same with the mobile browser. It's enough for me now as I slowly get my bearings in the fediverse, but I am so stoked for Sync to drop. It's the only app I've ever paid for o his day.
Even though I have moved Sync into a new location on my phone my brain immediately opens it if I even catch a glimpse of the icon. So happy to know it's coming!
prolly no, ljdawson never developed Reddit Sync to iOS, except some beta 3rd party port, which never took off except a few test builds, so I can't imagine why this would happen for Lemmy now
Pretty excited for this. I assume pro for the reddit app won't transfer? No problem if not, I more than got my money's worth and will happily buy again.
