Wheat based milk lasts longer I've found, and I don't drink enough milk so a normal carton always ends up going bad with up to half of it still left. Worth it for me, even though it's more expensive! Not supporting diary is just a bonus.
Depending on where you live. Over here the prices of plant based milks retained their prices for the most part while dairy surged. On top, big retailers (Kaufland, Lidl) released their own plant milks that go for as low as 1.20€ per carton. Pretty good stuff too!
We used to always end up with expired milk because we don’t drink it straight, only use it to cook and with certain foods.
We switched to lactose free because, like many people, lactose doesn’t agree with me. The lactose free stuff we get keeps significantly longer and we almost never have to dump expired anymore.
