I've joined Lemmy recently as part of the Reddit exodus. What I miss the most is women/mom oriented spaces and haven't found much I liked here. If I was going to put time in starting/moderating something myself, working moms was probably the community I needed most, so here we are.
I work in tech and am mom to one 5 year old boy who's starting Kindergarten this fall, which brings some new challenges as he'll be home from school at 3ish each day and I'll miss those nice daycare hours. Though, I will enjoy the new $$ I have from not paying for daycare.
I have an 19 month old who just started daycare a month ago. We've already been sick twice since then, and had to keep her home for two separate weeks... Including me needing to take time off work. Hand foot and mouth disease sucks for adults too. The struggle is real!
The first year of daycare is so hard due to sickness. I swear my son was sick for 9 months straight. He’s hardly sick now so it’s definitely just a something you have to get through and then you’re in a good place hopefully.
Same here. It seemed like my kid was sick from September straight through March of their first year in daycare Finally, we got tubes because it was mostly ear infections, and everything settled down to a more manageable pace.
