I would also be surprised as I do not think that is possible in one night.
You can quite easily get 500 000 a night if you put your mind to it, even easier if Flick or CJ is on the Island.
According to some data I collected, you can make ~2300 bells/min diving, which means 500k would take a little less than 4 hours.
Oh cool, I didn't know that.
