Came here because RIF shut down and I can't believe how bad the regular reddit app is. Here's hoping that Lemmy is the new reddit!
I did the exact same thing just today. Here's hoping! I can see there's growing pains, but that just means there's growing to be done.

Same here. Tried the official reddit app and its bad. Even tweaking with the settings, the lack of many features is noticeable.
for our writing, we discovered no character limit (or one that counts properly....) and have started to move our content here. Even if it's just a side or secondary site, it seems to work great.
I've tried using the official app for some of my favourite subreddits and it's awful. A cluttered mess that's difficult to navigate, the complete opposite of rif... Just gave up after a while. This place is looking promising though and I'm happy to see so many familiar communities already.

Using that app is punishment enough.
Yeah, I used Reddit exclusively through RIF. It was perfect for what I wanted out of the site.
