Unable to upload images on lemm.ee

Getting the following error every time I try to upload an image anywhere on the site:

SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', "<!DOCTYPE "... is not valid JSON
    at parse (<anonymous>)
(anonymous) @ client.js:1

Is this a site wide issue or something I could fix?

I have a 80 kb pic I am trying to upload as an avatar and also getting a JSON error
- That definitely shouldn't be happening. If you happen to be on either platform, you could DM me on Matrix (@sunaurus:matrix.org) or Discord (@sunaurus) - if you send me the exact image that is failing, I can debug further over the weekend.
