They had the chance to be the definitive edition... but they didn't. Other than the quality-of-life updates, you don't get "The Answer" from FES or the female protagonist in Portable. So if you were seeking the full story, you will need to possibly play Reload then FES for "The Answer" and if you are a diehard fan, go to Portable for the female protagonist.
