Why can't I subscribe to communities in other instances?

I got the Pending Subscription message for days. I tried multiple instances with the same result.

I get a lot of those from lemmy dot world whereas pretty much everywhere else is fine.
- I have a lot of them from Beehaw.org. What I didn't expect is I still seem to be seeing posts from those communities in my subscribed feed.
