I am not one of the mods of Reddit's r/AskMen, but I very much enjoy the community that was built there.
One of the common complaints that many users have had in Reddit's r/AskMen is that the mods there have been too lax with respect to the purpose of that subreddit.
I agree wholeheartedly that women should be welcome to ask questions as well as to participate in discussions. It adds richness and depth to the discussions and community, and I believe that we should be open and friendly to all.
However, it does not make sense for women to answer questions because the whole point of an AskMen forum is to specifically get a male perspective on various topics.
By allowing women to answer questions (i.e. top level comments), r/AskMen effectively becomes r/AskReddit.
So here is where we address that, creating an environment friendly to men, women, and people of any label - but simply making it clear that questions may only be answered by men, thus fulfilling the purpose of this forum.
Please be polite, courteous, considerate, and respectful to everyone.
