Flash cost Warner Bros. almost $220 million and it was the biggest bomb of the year. Barbie's budget is only $150 million and will very likely become the highest-grossing film of the year.
Based on what I've heard about the Barbie story I wonder if it's going to drop a lot weekend after weekend. Many people were thinking they'd get an inoffensive children's movie but it sounds like it very different.
It’s one of those “kids will love it but adults have good jokes too” movies. I was, however, side-eyeing the whole theater when the Kens started chanting “beach him off, beach him off, beach him off…”
There were a ton of kids in the theater when I went to see it with some friends. Most were around 11-14 and I think the movie was appropriate for them. I wouldn't let my 8 year old and 5 year old see it though
