So my question is, is scheduling information also included in that data stream so we know what programs are coming on the radio station at what times?

RDS, as mr goose below said. It also contains an accurate time signal, and some cars use that to correct their clock.
Mr Goose! I love it. Makes me feel a bit old though. Hold on a minute, according to the RDS wiki page, I'm older than RDS. Damn!
