2 0 ReplyLest we forget, most Lemmy instances are hosted by randos on the internet. It may or may not be worse than soulless Corp.
7 0 ReplyIf you don't like randos hosting your instance you can always host your own. It is the main benefit of FOSS software.
Also just because you know the corp, doesn't mean you know the random IT person who actually manages the data. They're technically randos too.

You, too, can be an admin with DB permissions just by following the install instructions.
