Welcome to Socialist FanFiction!

Hey everyone, I've created this community to hopefully help facilitate the spread of socialist fanfiction!

I've been an avid reader of fanficiton since I was 13, but since becoming a socialist I've become more and more disappointed with how liberal the vast majority of fanfiction writing is (fiction in general, really). So, maybe by having a community dedicated to it here, we can combat some of that!

I've never moderated anything before, so any suggestions on better rules or events to run to grow the community are very welcome! Also, I'd like help designing or finding an appropriate icon and banner.

  • Out of curiosity, have you read published socialist fiction? Might give you some ideas on themes and execution

    • Not nearly as much as I'd like, but I've read a few

      A psalm for the wild-built

      Ministry for Future

      Fire On the Mountain

(Not explicitly socialist, but its main theme is dealing with colonialism) The Scholomance series

      • Nice. Anything from USSR?

        • No, do you have any suggestions?

          • Pretty much anything by Strugatsky brothers. I will never stop advertising them here. They are usually a bit subtle about it, but I would recommend "Kid from Hell" specifically. It draws a wonderful dichotomy between futuristic communist society, and a XX-century-style capitalist one. "Probationers" has some banter with characters at multiple points interacting with people trying to defend capitalism, both offering arguments (no it's not trying to both-sides the issue, quite the opposite). "Engineer Garin's hyperboloid" has some elements AFAIK (in terms of what capitalism and socialism view as the correct way to utilize groundbreaking technology), but I admittedly haven't read it
