34 9 ReplyI'm pretty sure you're not allowed to call it cheese in the US either. It gets labelled as "cheese product".
25 1 ReplyIsn't that just for stuff like "American cheese"? Aka processed cheese.
That wouldn't apply to something like a cheddar, mozzarella, provalone, Gouda, feta, Swiss, etc.
16 1 ReplyProper American cheese is called “Pasteurized Process American Cheese”
Once non-dairy oil starts being used it loses the ability to be called American Cheese and you start seeing “American Slices” on the label.
