First two I definitely agree on, it does result in low-quality, low-effort spam, since they can be generated easily and people often post it automatically for a bigger boost.
Last one really does depend. Open.ai and the like absolutely are. Community driven open source projects, not so much. Actually I really admire and appreciate the work that @[email protected] has been doing with the AI-horde. It's actually pretty amazing. Especially their CSAM defense system, which really can be beneficial for Fediverse admins to clear out potentially harmful content from their pict-rs database without having to see and experience it themselves.
I can agree that some of them, especially the more well crafted ones can be great quality.
As an example here's one of the samples I generated for the icon of the future AI dragons community.

Though unfortunately the same cannot be said for most of them. I should know since I've reviewed quite a few of them on AI Horde, mostly for the points but also because it can show you what people are generating. There were a decent number of good ones coming through, but a lot were extremely malformed and some were even just noise. And that translates to people posting a lot of funky and messed up ones.
Even these are still much better quality than a lot of the stuff I've seen in the review area. A lot of which is basically unrecognizable, one of them I saw seemed like it was trying to make an animal of some kind but it was so malformed I couldn't tell what it was supposed to be, or if the things in the background were supposed to be trees, buildings, or mountains.
