  • Just got my first wage

5,5€ an hour according to my calculations.

The first hour of work every work day (4 a week) is used to cover the bus tickets and buying breakfast during work.

At least my workplace isn't too exigent with the work I do (since they get my work literally for free lol, the state pays my wage) and they let me go home half an hour early.

  • I think my job is just company subsidies

I'm pretty sure my salary comes from the government and not the company. It's supposed to be a remunerated internship (I think it translates to that) and we are told that there doesn't exist an employer-employee relationship between the company and us.

So I'm pretty sure the company is just getting free labour.

Also it's been like a month and a half and I haven't seen a cent of my salary 😑

  • Do you feel like the work you do at your job benefits society?

I'm curious to know how common 'bullshit jobs' are among the Lemmygrad community.

  • I don't think I could feel fulfilled with a programming job

    cross-posted from: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/629236

    > I love programming, but I feel like it doesn't have too much use outside getting people to spend their hard-earned money in stuff they don't need... > > I feel like jobs such as manufacture, cooking, agriculture and whatnot contribute way more to society than all the "Big Data" or "Business Intelligence" garbage... They actually help fulfill people's needs. > > All this comes because I tried to think a way that programming could help fulfill the needs of at least some people, but all I could think of is that maybe it could help government administration or something... > > I'm honestly thinking in just stop searching for tech-related jobs and settle for a less paying but more helpful and fulfilling job. Just anything where I can feel like I'm actually helping people. > > Thanks for reading my rant.
