Tell Congress: Don't Allow The Return Of The Worst Patents (could threaten crypto technology)
act.eff.org Tell Congress: Don't Allow The Return Of The Worst Patents 2023The Patent Eligibility Restoration Act (PERA), S. 2140, would throw out Supreme Court rules that limit patents on abstract ideas. If PERA passes, it will open the floodgates for far more vague and overbroad software patents. It will even allow for a type of patent on human genes that the Supreme Cou...
This law would allow an expansion of software patents, slowing or completely preventing the development of blockchain and other DLT technology in the US.

Today The UK Parliament Undermined The Privacy, Security, And Freedom Of All Internet Users
www.eff.org Today The UK Parliament Undermined The Privacy, Security, And Freedom Of All Internet UsersThe U.K. Parliament has passed the Online Safety Bill (OSB), which says it will make the U.K. “the safest place” in the world to be online. In reality, the OSB will lead to a much more censored, locked-down internet for British users. The bill could empower the government to undermine not just the p...
In the UK? Contact your MP to express your disappointment. cross-posted from: https://monyet.cc/post/804684
> Summary > > The UK Parliament has passed the Online Safety Bill (OSB), claiming it will enhance online safety but actually leading to increased censorship and surveillance. The bill grants the government the authority to compel tech companies to scan all user data, including encrypted messages, to detect child abuse content, effectively creating a backdoor. This jeopardizes privacy and security for everyone. The bill also mandates the removal of content deemed inappropriate for children, potentially resulting in politicized censorship decisions. Age-verification systems may infringe on anonymity and free speech. The implications of how these powers will be used are a cause for concern, with the possibility that encrypted services may withdraw from the UK if their users' security is compromised.

Have you ever called/emailed an elected representative about crypto? Why or why not?
No judgement, let's share :). I'll start. Yes, but I have always been a bit unsure about which bills to support/not support, but I just generally tell them I support crypto. I don't know how much it helps, but I know it can't hurt to be hearing it from the voting public.
