    > "Did it work?", — Tony asks, and Morgan answers: "Yes, it worked for me, I can live and grow. As for you, — I can’t answer".

    > A deep and emotional scene that shows Tony’s realization of what he has done and the turmoil after his decision.

    > "I’m proud of you", Morgan tells him, and Tony adds."If you’re happy, I’m happy".

    > And to increase the degree of emotionality a bit more, Stark says that "loves her 3000", returning to their charming conversation shown earlier in the movie. The scene didn’t make it into the final 2019 version of the movie, and it appears that a number of Marvel fans have never seen it, judging by the comments

  • 2024 Deadpool & Wolverine Editor: Why Gambit post-credits scene didn't make the final cut

'Deadpool & Wolverine' Editor Details Why That Gambit Post-Credits Scene Didn't Make the Final Cut By Ryan O'Rourke Published 20241014

    > Reid felt that putting the scene of Gambit's survival amid all of that would break up the rhythm of what was otherwise a perfect ending for the kind of film Deadpool & Wolverine is:

    > "A rhythm to the end credit sequence that we had [was] the Legacy reel [which] was a really important part of the process. It was something that we built, actually, while we were on strike, and that was a sentiment to come off the film with, and then it was from there, we knew that we had this really wonderful mic-drop-coda with Johnny Storm that was going to close the film out. I think the Gambit Sparkle Circle feels like a traditional Marvel coda, and I think what these guys were always trying to do was sort of subvert the audience's expectations in that sense."

    > Reid shared how everything came together to influence their final decision to leave the scene out, adding:

    > "So we had this wonderful piece and it was in at times and out. This is the brilliance of Ryan and his understanding of marketing and social media and how to use it, so they had other plans for what you could do with that kind of material and how you could put it out there and get the audience's appetite warmed up for it, but also leave the audience with a Deadpool movie that, through and through, feels like a Deadpool movie and ending it the way it did, just always felt right."

  • 2024 Sebastian Stan tells Marvel haters: If MCU ends, it’s a big hole

Sebastian Stan Says ‘If Marvel Was Gone’ It’d Leave a ‘Big Hole,’ Tells Off MCU Haters: ‘Don’t Just S— on Something Without Offering Something Better’ By Zack Sharf Oct 8, 2024 3:43pm PT

I’ve never been part of a company that puts so much heart and thought into anything,” Stan told the publication. “If Marvel was gone, it’d be such a big hole to try and fill up. Don’t just go out there and shit on something without offering something better.”

In an interview for a Variety cover story last month ...

It’s become really convenient to pick on [Marvel films],” Stan said. “And that’s fine. Everyone’s got an opinion. But they’re a big part of what contributes to this business and allows us to have smaller movies as well. This is an artery traveling through the system of this entire machinery that’s Hollywood. It feeds in so many more ways than people acknowledge.”

Sometimes I get protective of it because the intention is really fucking good,” Stan added at the time. “It’s just fucking hard to make a good movie over and over again.”

... and he hopes the character stays around long enough to meet Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom on the big screen.

I hope I’m in a scene with him,” Stan says. “Is there any other guy that could pull that off? I don’t know, probably not. After ‘Tropic Thunder,’ is there anything that guy can’t do?

  • 2024 Harrison Ford: Rejecting Marvel roles is 'Silly' when audiences love it

Harrison Ford Says Avoiding Marvel Roles Is ‘Silly’ When MCU Films Provide ‘Good Experiences for an Audience,’ Calls the Death of Movie Stars ‘Rubbish’ By Zack Sharf Oct 14, 2024 2:50pm PT

I mean, this is the Marvel universe and I’m just there on a weekend pass. I’m a sailor new to this town,” Ford said about his MCU debut. “I understand the appeal of other kinds of films besides the kind we made in the ’80s and ’90s. I don’t have anything general to say about it. It’s the condition our condition is in, and things change and morph and go on. We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate. I’m participating in a new part of the business that, for me at least, I think is really producing some good experiences for an audience. I enjoy that.”

I don’t think the question is whether or not there are any movie stars. There’s wonderful actors coming up every day,” Ford told GQ. “Whether or not they become movie stars is really not the point. If movies need stars, they will find them. I’ve never fucking understood being a movie star. I’m an actor. I tell stories. I’m part of a group of people who work together, collaborate on telling stories. I’m an assistant storyteller. That’s what I am.”

  • 2024 X-Men '97: Beau De Mayo on why T'Chaka over T'Challa

Source: ScreenRant X-Men '97 Creator Addresses Black Panther Controversy Despite NDA Claim - "Humanity Before Continuity" By Simon Gallagher Published Sep 22, 2024

    > De Mayo has now taken to X\.com to defend the decision to use T'Chaka rather than his son, after an X-Men '97 fan asked him for the thinking behind it. When asked "Can you tell us why Black Panther was T'Chaka and not T'Challa?", he responded: "I don't know why Marvel had certain directors trying to spin and lie about this but we produced X-Men 97 Season 1 in early 2021. The loss of Boseman weighed heavily on the studio, as well as on me as a black man. Felt too soon to do T'Challa. Put humanity before continuity."

    > "As I said, at the time, it didn’t feel right. Just a matter of respect. If it were today, I think the choice would may be different. Either way, trying to spin it as something other than what it was makes no sense to me."

    > In the wake of T'Chaka's appearance, X-Men '97 supervising director was asked why T'Chaka's version of Black Panther was used despite T'Challa appearing in Fantastic Four: The Animated Series (which was also confirmed as the same continuity as X-Men '97). He didn't say anything to particularly contradict De Mayo, but did offer clarity on the timelines:

    > "I will elaborate on as much of it as I can. Some of the Black Panther of it all are definitely closed doors conversations that I wasn't privy to. That was definitely in Beau and the executives' realm. But for us, there's always multiple timelines right there. There's always a one off. 'This is exactly how I like it, except for that one thing."

    > "So, who's to say what timeline is the right timeline, the proper timeline? I mean, y'all aren't ready for how we're gonna \\\\* you up in season two. At the end, we tease it at the end of 10. We're gonna have to elaborate on that.*"

    > X-Men: The Animated Series’ Larry Houston spoke to THR and confirmed that T'Challa was the Black Panther in TAS:

    > “We had two X-Men episodes in Africa, one with Storm’s mutant godchild and the other with Magneto gathering up mutants to take them to his mutant sanctuary Asteroid M. I was able to include the Black Panther into the show whenever they were in Africa, which some sharp-eyed fans were able to spot."

www.slashfilm.com Why Marvel's Kevin Feige Banned The Avengers Director Joss Whedon From The MCU - SlashFilm

While The Avengers director Joss Whedon gave the MCU its first hit crossover, he eventually found himself on the outs with Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

Why Marvel's Kevin Feige Banned The Avengers Director Joss Whedon From The MCU - SlashFilm

Source: SlashFilm Why Marvel's Kevin Feige Banned The Avengers Director Joss Whedon From The MCU By Joe Roberts Oct. 4, 2024 8:00 am EST

    > Meanwhile, Feige didn't seem all that thrilled about the show either, mostly because he was concerned about continuity issues. The Marvel Studios head told Buzzfeed: "They had said early on, 'Hey, we're thinking about doing this show about the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' And Joss said, 'I think I might do this.' I said, 'That's cool. God bless you. But you should know that we're destroying S.H.I.E.L.D. in 'Winter Soldier.' You guys do whatever you want. But know that that's what we're going to do.'"

    > In short, "Winter Soldier" depicted the dismantling of S.H.I.E.L.D itself, which put Whedon and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in a difficult position. While some reports have claimed the show's writers and producers had always been working on the show with this event in mind, according to "The Reign of Marvel Studios" (via GameRant) Feige was not happy with how Whedon handled the crossover. This was the first of many things that led to the Marvel Studios head banning Whedon from the MCU.

    > However, as recounted in the book (via MSN) it wasn't the committee that broke Whedon, so much as the editing process on "Age of Ultron," which he described to members of the press as "dark," "weird," and "horrible." Whedon's comments, apparently, transgressed a rule that Kevin Feige had in place, i.e. don't tell the press about your problems.

    > For Feige, it seems the notoriously controlling creative just wasn't a fit for a franchise that required constant collaboration to ensure the overall continuity made sense. ..., Feige outright banned the man from the franchise, with the authors writing, "Apparently everyone in MCU history was on Feige's call list — except Edward Norton, the franchise's first Bruce Banner, and Joss Whedon, whose 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' characters remained in limbo."

  • 2024.10 DC is thriving in one key place where Marvel Studios is failing

Source: The Escapist DC Is Thriving In One Key Place Where Marvel Studios Is Failing Leon Miller Published: Oct 5, 2024 06:00 pm

    > Specifically, DC isn’t afraid to it have its baddies be, well… bad. Even big screen blockbuster The Joker and prestige miniseries The Penguin avoid the temptation to frame the legendary Bat-foes that head them up as bonafide heroes. Do these productions help us understand where Arthur Fleck and Oz Cobb’s antisocial behavior comes from? Sure. Do we sympathise with them, even root for them to win at the end? Absolutely. But we’re never in any doubt as to either character’s moral alignment. There’s no redemption arc for these nefarious folks (and they wouldn’t want one).

    > By contrast, Marvel is allergic to villainous protagonists. Loki wrapped up by reforming its titular, self-styled God of Evil once and for all. New Disney+ series Agatha All Along seems poised to similarly rehabilitate hitherto gleefully wicked witch Agatha Harkness. The result is less nuanced, less satisfying storytelling, that tips the scale in DC Studios’ favor. Which begs the question: why does DC embrace villains and Marvel shun them?

    > But let’s be honest: odds are that by the time we reach Agatha All Along‘s series finale, we’ll learn that none of the horror stories about Agatha’s past are true, that’s she’s really a terribly misunderstood creature, and that she isn’t that bad after all. Sadly, we’ll probably have to wait a little while longer for our first true, unwaveringly villainous MCU protagonist. And until that happens, DC will have the edge over Marvel – in this one area, at least.

  • 2024 Deadpool & Wolverine: So what's the deal with DP's creator, feet, and that joke?

Source: Collider 2024.10.06 So What's the Deal With Deadpool’s Creator, Feet, and That 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Joke?

    > The running gag since the 1990s is that Rob Liefeld doesn't like drawing feet for his characters, and their feet are always out of frame. If you examine Liefeld's interior pencils and cover artwork for his superhero books, it's a recurring trait. Now, you can certainly find instances of the feet of the characters Liefeld draws appearing in his comic book panels and covers, but the criticism became so widespread that it followed Liefeld throughout most of his career.

    > After she joins the new X-Force team, Deadpool opines, "Luck?! What coked-out, glass pipe-sucking, freak show comic book artist came up with that little chestnut? Probably a guy who can't draw feet!" ... There was a shoe store in the background before the big climactic battle scene where Deadpool and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) are about to take on the Deadpool Corps. The store is called "Liefeld's Just Feet."

    > Reynolds pitched the Deadpool 2 feet joke directly to Liefeld, and the comic book creator was one hundred percent on board with it, "Ryan calls me and says, 'Rob, we have this joke, I wanna run it by you. Please share your thoughts.' I said, 'Ryan, I absolutely love it.'" ... Liefeld considered the joke an extreme form of flattery. "There’s no greater shout-out in the world. I love it; I love taking the piss out of people. I love people taking the piss out of me. I got three kids who make fun of me all day long, so if my characters are making fun of me, all my kids are trashing me. I love it."

    > During the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, "I was laughing hysterically when the Marvel business affairs people called me. They were laughing, too." Liefeld is well aware of what fans say about his artwork, and he owns it. Critics joking about how a comic book artist draws feet probably seem trivial when that artist's creations are grossing billions of dollars at the box office. However, Liefeld can appreciate a good joke and doesn't mind any witticisms being made at his expense, recognizing that it's all good fun. He once joked about his artwork for Marvel Comics Presents #85, "Hi, I'm Rob Liefeld, and I have never known Da Feet….I mean defeat!!"

    > According to Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum, this is something that was planned from the start and offered a whole new kind of freedom for the series.

    > "I can tell you it’s our least expensive show, and I think that was by design. We are looking to make these shows for a responsible cost. Frankly, it gives us a little bit more freedom creatively when we can bring them in at a reasonable budget. Like [Agatha All Along], for example, the show has minimal CG, way less than we’ve ever done before. It’s mostly practical effects, and I think you can feel it in the show."

  • 2024.10 Pirates of the Caribbean vs MCU: Would a Deadpool - Jack Sparrow crossover work?

Pirates of the Caribbean meets the MCU. Would at least a Wade Wilson if not with a Deadpool costume, adventure in the PotC universe, revive the swashbuckler franchise? What do you think?

It would be a true multiverse since it would be not within Marvel/MCU itself. The interactions of Jack and Wade would be hilarious. It could easily be set during one of Wade's travels using Cable's device. When he saved Vanessa, he was in plain civilian clothes there for example. In the PotC films, the undead always had the "unkillable" advantage, but with Deadpool, they would easily meet their match.

I've seen the last two PotC films, and I've been reading, and apparently many fans were not quite satisfied with the last two installments since the original trilogy.

  • 2024.09 What Marvel's Thunderbolts* can learn from DC's Suicide Squad movies

Source: ComicBook\.com 2024.09.30 What Marvel's Thunderbolts* Can Learn From DC's Suicide Squad Movies

    1. Get to It Already – Both versions of DC's Suicide Squad films take their sweet time even getting to the task at hand. Ayer's film is infamous for the redundancies of its introduction and re-introduction of the principal characters; Gunn's film had a very purposeful fake-out, with an entire team of faux protagonists slaughtered in the opening act. ...

    2. Let. Them. Fight. – Due to the nature of Suicide Squad's premise, there's always a missed opportunity to see the various superpowered characters on the team going at it. There were scuffles, sure (like Peacemaker killing Rick Flag Jr.), but it took the footage of just one trailer for Thunderbolts* to showcase how very cool it is to see Yelena/Black Widow II, John Walker/US Agent, Ava Starr/Ghost, and Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster all fighting one another while utilizing their respective powers and skill sets. ...

    3. Take Heavy Losses – The beauty of Thunderbolts* is that its roster of characters is either experienced MCU fan favorites (Sebastian Stan's Bucky, Pugh's Yelena), or characters that fans wanted brought back, expanded on, or redeemed in some way (Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster). ...

    > But this wasn’t just a matter of dialogue; it was about the entire portrayal of Tony Stark. Originally, the script depicted Stark as an anti-arms dealer—outraged by how his technology was twisted into destructive weapons. In his own words, he was trying to “save lives,” not destroy them. However, the Pentagon wasn’t on board with that narrative. Given their routine dealings with arms manufacturers, they pushed for a rewrite, forcing Stark to become an arms dealer himself.

Source: Cinemablend 2024.09.27 'It Really Felt Like That Was A Wish.' Shawn Levy Just Made Deadpool And Wolverine, But Doing An R-rated Movie For Marvel Was Not Always In The Cards

    > When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and its properties, it finally opened the door for characters like Deadpool to join the MCU in an upcoming Marvel movie. This was a thrilling concept, but fans worried about whether or not Ryan Reynolds' franchise would still be permitted to be rated R. Levy spoke with The Ankler about concerns he was being pigeonholed in his career with family-friendly content. And when asked if he thinks he's finally achieved a full rounded career with an R-rated MCU blockbuster like Deadpool 3, Levy said:

    > "Maybe. But for many years, it really felt like that was a wish, not a goal. Because if you get success at one thing, they want you to keep doing that one thing. For me, that was broad family comedy. Because I’ve been spending a lot of time recently with Hugh (Jackman) and Ryan (Reynolds) and on airplanes, I’ve been thinking about the arc of my career, probably because I’m in middle life. (Levy is 56.) I’m having a unique moment with this movie. And I’ve been thinking back to the steps along the way."

Source: Cinemablend 2024.09.27 WandaVision Creator Weighs In On Scarlet Witch’s Doctor Strange 2 Being So Wildly Different From Her Arc On The Show

    > WandaVision became a Emmy winning success and all-out sensation upon its release, making Wanda into a top tier MCU character. Fans watched as Elizabeth Olsen's character processed her grief, and eventually sacrificed her family in order to set the town of Westview free. But when she returned for Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda was an evil murderer. Fans were bothered by this, and WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer spoke to RadioTimes about handing off her narrative, saying:

    > "I love Wanda and I love all the characters that I’ve had the privilege of working with; Natasha [in Black Widow], Carol Danvers [in Captain Marvel], everybody. But one of the agreements of being part of the MCU is you're kind of borrowing characters and storylines for a time. You get your experience with them, and then things continue, which is one of the wonderful, special things about the MCU. A lot of my friends and colleagues were on that film."
