Hi everyone, I’m Gradivis, and I’m excited to welcome you to this new chapter for our opal community! Some of you may know me as the long-time moderator of the Reddit opal sub, where I helped grow it from just a few hundred members to over 25,000 passionate collectors, lapidaries, miners, and jewelers. Given the current state of things over there, I thought it was the perfect time to federate.

Opals have been a lifelong passion of mine—I’m a collector, lapidary, jeweller, and sometimes-vendor, and I’m thrilled to be building this space with you all.

Our mission is simple: to create the largest and most knowledgeable opal community in the world. Whether you’re here to learn, showcase, trade (with approval), or simply admire these stunning stones, you’re in the right place.

Community Guidelines

To keep this space positive and valuable for everyone, we follow a few simple rules:

✅ No politics or drama—let’s keep the focus on opals.

✅ Natural, earth-mined opals only (exceptions for identification requests).

✅ No selling unless approved by the moderation team.
