Gearbox is reportedly the latest studio to be affected by Embracer Group's restructuring efforts.
In June, Embracer announced a "comprehensive restructuring programme" to help recover from its large spending spree over recent years and a 40 percent drop in share price following a report of a failed "major strategic partnership" with Savvy Games Group, which is backed by the Saudi Arabian government.
As part of the restructuring, Saints Row developer Volition Games was shut down "effective immediately" at the end of last month. A new report from Reuters claims that Borderlands developer Gearbox will be one of the next studios Embracer sheds.

UPDATE 5.40pm: Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reports that Gearbox has today emailed employees confirming Embracer Group is, at the very least, considering parting ways with the Borderlands studio - although a specific course of action is yet to be decided on.
"The base case is that Gearbox remains a part of Embracer," Gearbox chief communications officer Dan Hewitt told staff in an email seen by Bloomberg. "However, there are many options under consideration, including Gearbox's transfer, taking Gearbox independent, and others. Ultimately, we'll move ahead with whichever path is best for both Gearbox and Embracer."
"Nothing has been decided yet," Hewitt added, "but there will be a lot of speculation in the coming weeks."

Singapore's rating board, the IMDA, has rated an unannounced version of Horizon Forbidden West.
"Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition" popped up on the IMDA's website, having been approved for a "M18" – that's a mature 18 – given its "sexual references". The bundle includes both the base game and its expansion, Burning Shores.

Corden made the claim in the latest edition of his podcast, The Xbox Two Podcast, in a broader conversation about the pros of established studios sticking to the development blueprint that made their games so special versus the cons of taking risks and innovating, only for it to instantly crash and burn.
Reflecting on Bethesda's success with Starfield and its recycling of so many of the things we've come to expect from the team's internal development studios, Corden's thoughts turned to Mass Effect, which had phenomenal success with its first three games (Mass Effect 3's controversial ending aside), but struggled to make a similar impact with follow-up Andromeda. And that's when he made the revelation.
"I've heard that Mass Effect is ditching open world," Corden said, "and going back to its classic format. I don't know if that's accurate, 100 per cent, but it's an industry rumour."

Speaking on X/Twitter, Necro Felipe, Universo Nintendo editor-in-chief who correctly revealed information regarding Nintendo products and games in the past before the official announcements, revealed that, according to their sources, the new console will be ray tracing capable and will come with 12 GB of RAM, which is a big step up from the 4 GB of the current console, but still not on par with the current generation console from Sony and Microsoft' flagship system, which both come with 16 GB of RAM.
Unlike what the reports stated, the console was running the demo with NVIDIA DLSS 3.1 and not the more recent 3.5.

Reportedly Take-Two plans to release 2 "previously-released titles" by the end of current Fiscal year, which ends in March 2024.
Hmm...
``` Take-Two has unveiled its plans for Fiscal 2024, which spans from now until March 2024. Among their initiatives for this period, they have mentioned the release of two "previously-released titles." As of now, I don't recall them officially announcing these projects yet. pic.twitter.com/BNvHni5ybV — Ben (@videotechx) July 5, 2023
```
These statements were made in their Q4 2023 remark last May, currently I don't remember them announcing any remastered projects. One of them possibly can be previously rumored RDR Remastered.

Next Nintendo console could have scroll wheels next to triggers
`
``` I work for the TSA at a fairly large airport on the west coast. A large pelican case came through the X-ray and got pulled for screening, and when I asked the guy questions about the case, he asked that he get a private screening for the contents. He and a coworker ended up going into another room with me and a supervisor, and they popped the locks on the case.
Inside was what looked like a large horizontal computer looking thing, almost like a giant internet modem if I had to describe it. The weird thing is it had a controller with it, and it didn’t really look finished (almost like a busted 3rd party little brother controller), but had the normal ABXY buttons, triggers, sticks, etc. only weird thing about it is it had like 2 mouse scroll wheels next to the triggers.
After screening the machine and controller, our machine alarmed, so we had to do a check of the guy’s personal backpack and pat down etc. only reason I’m making a post here is that he had Nintendo business cards stating that they were some sort of hardware developer/engineers. (I forgot the exact title) in Research development.
Giant Bomb: "Final Fantasy XVI's Sales Numbers Are Probably Ahead of What Square Enix Were Even Expecting".
YouTube Video
Click to view this content.
According to folks at Giant Bomb, Final Fantasy XVI's first sales data (3M copies in less than a week) are probably ahead of Square Enix's expectations.
Jan: "I think that's very impressive, especially when we consider how hesitant and scared Square was with the small pre-order numbers and everything. With only 40M PS5's, and this being a very different Final Fantasy, i think this is a good pace."
Grubb: "They did a good job of taking whatever momentum they had and really amplifying it with a lot of great word of mouth out of that demo and seemed to be the thing that really powered it over the finish line here and got it off to a really strong start. 3M copies sold, I think this is probably ahead of what they were even expecting for something on a PlayStation 5, that again, only 40M units out there. I also think this is a game that is going to sell well into the PlayStation 5's life."
List of games currently rumored for the 6/21 Nintendo Direct
We’ve got a new Direct coming, and I’ve been following these rumors pretty closely, so I’d like to share everything that may or may not show up in tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct.
Pyoro(@Pyoro_ND): Leaker who leaked Sonic Superstars and Everybody 1-2 Switch. Claims a new 2D Mario game(possibly not part of the NSMB series) and a remake of an SNES classic. Link
Other things the user has posted includes a gif of Big Yoshi, possibly insinuating the SNES remake is a Super Mario RPG remake. Twitter leaker The Snitch posted a Mario twerking gif. 🍑 They’ve also posted a gif of Detective Pikachu, and retweeted a recent tweet from Junichi Masuda. Maybe Pokemon announcements will be included in this Direct, or a Pokémon Presents could be on its way?
From Atlus we have news of Persona 3 Reload possibly being ported to Switch: Link Also rumored is a rerelease of SMTV, but that may be for only other platforms.
‘Leaker’ Zippo has claimed that a remake of Chrono Trigger is going to be revealed.
YouTube leaker PapaGenos claims to have gotten information that the Super Mario RPG remake is true: link
Actual Nintendo of Canada posted this tweet saying more MK8D courses are on their way soon.
A Brazilian Twitter leaker posted this tweet saying a new Mario and Sonic Olympic game would be revealed, allegedly leaking Sonic Superstars in the same Tweet.
These are all the leaks and rumors I was able to find and locate in preparation of this Direct. As with any Direct, speculation gets crazy and things get made up, you should take most of this post with a grain of salt.
Other rumors that’ve been being shared include rereleases of SMT:IV and SMT: IV Apocalypse, and a remake of Fire Emblem 4.
And then we have the things that are rumored for every Direct, Windwaker and TP remastered, Mother 3(lol), Prime 4, and, of course, the reveal of new Nintendo hardware/the Switch’s successor.
What games are you hoping we get to see? Personally I need to see the Fire Emblem 4 remake. I’ve been hearing about it for so long, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone just saw Sigurd in an early Engage leak and thought that’s what it was. Nevertheless, the game deserves a remake!
